Our curriculum targets the preschool child between the ages of 32 months and 5 years of age. In the younger classes, we strive to help the children make a smooth transition from home to school. In the Pre-K classes, we focus on preparing the children for kindergarten and the entrance requirements. We place great emphasis on the changing weather and seasons of the year through our art projects, music and literature.
We encourage developing language skills and vocabulary and the use of small and large motor muscles. We promote nae recognition, beginning letter sounds, counting, and beginning manuscript. Emphasis is placed on following directions, cooperative play, problem solving, and developing independence and promoting positive self esteem.
Alphabet study is offered in the four-year-old class by using the Handwriting Without Tears alphabet which is utilized in most area schools. Examples of special units of study include: zoo, circuis, five sense, nursery rhymes, farm, dinosaurs, good healthy and food, solar system, under the sea, community helpers, plants, insects and more.
